How to Change (or Convert) Currency in Google Sheets

Method 1: Changing the Default Currency Setting

Step 1: Open Your Google Sheet

Navigate to the Google Sheet where you want to change the currency.

In the top-left corner, click on File.

Step 3: Select Settings From Dropdown Menu

From the dropdown menu, select Settings.

Step 4: Switch to the General tab and Change Locale

In the Settings window, switch to the General tab.

Change your Locale to the desired country (e.g., United Kingdom for pounds).

Step 5: Click on “Save and Reload”

Click on Save and reload to apply the changes.

This action changes the default currency for new data entries to the currency of your chosen locale. You can see it in the toolbar.

Method 2: Bulk Changing Currency in the Entire Spreadsheet

Step 1: Select All Cells

Click on the rectangle at the top-left corner of your sheet (between the A column and the 1 row) to highlight all cells.

Step 2: Open Format From Top Menu

Click on Format in the top menu.

Select Number from the dropdown.

Choose “Custom currency” from the next menu.

Step 3: Choose Your Currency

In the Custom Currency window, select the desired currency from the list.

Click Apply..

This will change the currency format for all selected cells to the new currency.

Method 3: Changing Currency for Specific Cells

Step 1: Highlight Specific Cells

Click and drag to select the cells or columns you want to change. You can also hold down the Command (Mac) or Control (Windows) key to select multiple non-adjacent cells.

Go to Format > Number > Custom currency.
